Behind the beaches and the Portuguese architecture, the Kunbi community, one of Goa's indigenous tribal communities,  has been weaving sarees for centuries. The Kunbi saree is a living tradition, worn at the Shigmo festival and at the rituals of daily life, woven on handlooms in a distinctive checked pattern that carries the visual language of a community deeply rooted in this land.
