Heritage craft and modern design are not opposites, they are the most interesting conversation in Indian fashion. At Mogasu, this conversation happens between the block printing tradition of Bagru, Rajasthan, which has been practised and refined across centuries, and the contemporary design vision of a NIFT-trained founder on the Goan coast, who draws from the world around her without looking backward or forward.
The craft is heritage: wooden blocks, azo free dyes, the hand that presses each impression using knowledge passed through generations. The design is contemporary: Goa-inspired motifs that come from a lived present rather than a historical reference, in colours that a 25-year-old with strong personal style would choose for herself.
The result is a heritage craft saree that is also a modern one,  not a museum piece wearing the language of tradition, but a saree that is fully of its time because the craft it is made with has always been fully of its time.
