Goa's most famous exports are its beaches, its food and its festivals. But underneath all of that, older than the tourism, older than the Portuguese tiles, older than most of what visitors come to see, is the textile tradition of the Kunbi community. The Kunbi saree is indigenous Goan handloom in the truest sense: woven by the people of this land, for the rituals of this land, on looms that have not needed updating because the craft they produce is already perfect.
At Mogasu, working with this tradition is one of the most meaningful things we do. Our indigenous Goa handloom sarees are woven in Goa by Kunbi weavers, the craft is entirely theirs.
