Collection: Indigo Saree Hand Block Print

Stand at Goa's shoreline on a clear morning and the Arabian Sea gives you three blues at once the pale turquoise where the waves break shallow, the deeper teal where the water darkens, and further out, where the sea becomes serious, a blue so deep it is almost indigo. That colour has been in Mogasu's palette since the beginning. Indigo is one of the oldest dyes in the world and one of the most demanding, the depth of the shade builds with each successive dip and exposure, which means an indigo saree carries the evidence of time in its colour. At Mogasu, our indigo hand block print sarees are printed in Bagru, Rajasthan using azo free indigo dye on mul cotton, linen and Kota Doria. Each motif is pressed from custom wooden blocks carved exclusively for our designs, birds, jaal patterns, Goan geometric forms, in white or contrasting colour against the deep indigo ground. A colour with a thousand years of history, worn on the coast that inspired it. Free shipping India. Pre-washed, with a matching blouse piece.
