Kunbi Saree Goa

The Kunbi saree is one of Goa's oldest and most quietly extraordinary textiles. Woven by the Kunbi community, one of Goa's indigenous tribal communities, these sarees have been made on this land for centuries, worn at festivals, rituals and the rhythms of daily life long before tourism arrived and long before anyone thought to call them heritage.

At Mogasu, we have been working with Kunbi weavers in Goa to bring this remarkable craft into a new conversation. Our Kunbi sarees are woven in Goa, by the same hands that have always woven them, on the same looms, with the same foundational technique. What Mogasu has reimagined is the colour: moving beyond the traditional palette to introduce new combinations that suit the contemporary wardrobe while honouring the weave structure that makes a Kunbi saree what it is.
