The dye in a saree spends a great deal of time against your skin. It also spends time on the hands of the artisan who applies it, in the water that carries the excess away after printing, and in the environment around the workshop where the printing happens. Non toxic dye matters at every one of these points.
At Mogasu, we use azo free dyes exclusively,  dyes that have been tested and certified free of the aromatic amines that make conventional azo dyes harmful. This means the dye against your skin on a long day is safe. It means the artisan hands in Bagru, Rajasthan that load and press the wooden blocks are not being damaged by their daily work. It means the water that runs through the printing process is not carrying carcinogens into the local environment.
Non toxic dye is not more expensive than toxic dye. It is a choice, and at Mogasu, it is one we make as standard because there is no alternative we find acceptable.
