A saree that lasts long is made from fabric that was chosen to last, dyed with dyes that hold, and printed with a technique that deepens rather than diminishes over time. At Mogasu, all three of these conditions are met in every saree we make.
Natural fabric, mul cotton, linen, Chanderi and Kota Doria, wears differently from synthetic blends. It softens with washing, breathes through heat and develops a particular quality of use that makes it more personal the longer it is worn. Azo free dyes on natural fibre hold their colour across repeated washing because the dye bonds with the natural fibre in a way it cannot with synthetic alternatives. And hand block printing produces a depth of impression that flat digital printing cannot replicate, the colour sits in the fabric, not on it.
A Mogasu saree that has been worn for two years looks better than it did when it arrived. That is the only test of a saree that lasts.
