Collection: Terracotta Saree Block Print

The rooftiles of old Goan houses are terracotta, the same warm red-orange that the laterite walls below them are cut from, the same tone as the mud on the forest paths after a rain, the same colour as the inside of a kokum when you split it open. Terracotta is not a trend in Goa. It is the landscape's own colour, worn by everything built here for four hundred years. At Mogasu, our terracotta saree block print collection draws directly from this palette. The shade is applied using azo free dyes in Bagru, Rajasthan, pressed from custom wooden blocks carrying Goa-inspired motifs onto mul cotton, linen and Kota Doria. Florals in terracotta on a natural white ground. Geometric tile patterns in warm red. Botanical forms in layered terracotta tones where two blocks create depth and dimension.A colour that is simultaneously ancient and completely contemporary. A colour that photographs beautifully and wears even better.Made in small batches. Free shipping India. Pre-washed, with matching blouse piece.
