Dark Academia Saree Look

Dark academia is about depth, in colour, in reference, in the sense that what you are wearing has a history worth knowing. It is the aesthetic of someone who reads, thinks and dresses with intention. A Mogasu saree, it turns out, fits this world precisely.
Our dark academia saree look draws from the deeper end of our palette and the more architectural end of our motifs. Deep indigo hand block p rints on natural linen. Geometric patterns borrowed from the tiled floors of Goa's old colonial buildings,  floors that have been walked on for four centuries and are more beautiful for it. Botanical forms in the dark, considered tones of something pressed and preserved. Jaal patterns that cover the fabric completely, like a page full of notes.
Each design is custom-carved into a wooden block in Bagru, Rajasthan and pressed by hand using azo free dyes onto mul cotton, linen and Chanderi. Colours matched by artisan eye, deep, warm and exactly right.
