Collection: Multicolour Block Print Saree

A multicolour block print saree is a feat of registration. Each colour in the design requires its own wooden block, and each block must be placed with precision onto the impression left by the one before, so that the layers align, the colours meet cleanly at their edges, and the finished motif reads as a single designed thing rather than a collection of overlapping mistakes. It is one of the most skilful things a block printer does. At Mogasu, our multicoloured block print sarees are printed in Bagru, Rajasthan, by artisans who have mastered this registration across careers spent at the printing table. The motifs are our own, designed in Goa, custom-carved into multiple blocks (one per colour), then layered onto fabric using azo-free dyes in the palette of the Goan coast. Tropical florals in three or four colours. Bird motifs with layered detail. Geometric patterns where colour separation creates depth and dimension. Made in smaller batches than our single-colour work, because more colours means more time. Free shipping to India. Pre-washed, with a matching blouse piece.
