Goa's earth tones are different from those of other places. The laterite stone that builds its houses is a red that shifts between rust and terracotta depending on the hour. The dried palm frond is a deep golden ochre. The mud on a country road after the first monsoon rain is the colour of dark chocolate. These are the tones our founder reaches for when she sits down to design for this collection. Our earth tone handmade saree collection is printed in Bagru, Rajasthan, using azo-free dyes in the warm end of the palette, rusts, terracottas, mustards, warm ochres, and the deep, dusty browns that Rajasthani block printing has worked with for centuries. Each shade is applied by hand using custom wooden blocks carved to Mogasu's Goa-inspired designs: botanical forms that suit the earthy palette, bird motifs in rust on natural linen, booti prints in ochre on mul cotton. Handmade in the fullest sense, designed by hand, blocked by hand, printed by hand. Made in small batches. Free shipping anywhere in India. Pre-washed, with a matching blouse piece.
