Most brands get inspired by Goa. We live here. There is a difference between designing a Goa inspired saree from a reference board and designing one because you walked past a crumbling Fontainhas wall that morning and the colour of the old plaster stopped you in your tracks. At Mogasu, every print begins as a lived moment something seen, tasted, heard or remembered on this coast. Our founder does not schedule inspiration. It arrives when she is sitting in the garden and notices how the light hits a cashew leaf, or when she is at the Friday market and the colour of the kokum pile is too beautiful to ignore, or when a childhood memory of a particular Goan festival surfaces and demands to become a motif. Each of these moments travels from Goa to Bagru, Rajasthan, where artisans carve it into a custom wooden block and press it by hand onto mul cotton, linen, Chanderi and Kota Doria using azo-free dyes, colours matched entirely by eye, no shade card, just years of craft.
