Natural Fabric Saree Sustainable

The most sustainable fabric in a saree is the one that was grown rather than synthesised, that comes from a plant, not a petrochemical process, and that returns to the earth at the end of its life without leaving a residue. At Mogasu, every fabric we work with meets this test.
Mul cotton, linen, Chanderi and Kota Doria are all natural fibres. They regulate temperature, breathe through heat, soften with washing and biodegrade when their life as a saree is eventually over. They do not shed microplastics in the wash. They do not require the oil-based chemistry that synthetic fabric production demands.
Combined with azo free dyes, hand block printing by artisans in Bagru, Rajasthan and small batch production, a Mogasu saree is a sustainable natural fabric purchase in the fullest sense,  not a saree with sustainable credentials added on, but one whose entire production philosophy starts from the question of how to make something well and honestly.
