Collection: Pastel Saree India Block Print

Goa does pastels in a way that no other Indian state quite manages. The old houses of Fontainhas are washed in faded rose and dusty mint and a particular muted yellow that has been bleached by decades of sun into something more beautiful than it started. The light itself, in the early morning and the hour before sunset, turns the whole coast into a pastel painting. Our pastel saree collection for India draws from this palette, sage greens that reference the paddy fields after the monsoon, dusty pinks borrowed from the old Latin Quarter, soft mints that carry the colour of shallow coastal water, muted lavenders that exist in the shadow of a whitewashed Goan wall. Each pastel shade is applied using azo-free dyes in Bagru, Rajasthan, pressed from custom wooden blocks onto mul cotton, linen and Chanderi. Pastels done with conviction, not washed-out or timid, but specific and considered. The kind of colour that looks better in real life than in a photograph. made in small batches.
