Ethical fashion is a word used so freely that it has nearly lost its meaning. At Mogasu, we prefer to describe our process rather than claim a label. Here is what ethical looks like in our supply chain: our founder has direct relationships with the artisan families in Bagru, Rajasthan who print our sarees. There is no middleman, no anonymous factory, no supply chain long enough that the people at the end of it become invisible.
We use azo free dyes because the artisans who work with our fabric should not be exposed to harmful chemicals as a condition of their craft. We pay fairly because the skill of a hand block printer who has spent a career developing the ability to match colour without a shade card is genuinely extraordinary and should be compensated as such.
We make in small batches because overproduction is a form of disrespect, to the artisan's time, to the fabric and to the customer who deserves something that was made with intention.
